How to Adjust Dual Flush Toilet

Introduction

If you are concerned about the environment and want to use less water, Dual flash toilets are great for you. You can also save your money on water bill.
A button is mounted on the top of the tank of these toilets that lets you pick the size of your flash. The older toilets used 5 gallons water per flush; on the other hand, the modern dual flush toilets use at most 1.6 gallons. This is where the savings come from.
It’s difficult to learn how to adjust a dual flash toilet but this is something that the owner of any of these eco-friendly toilets must face at one time or another. Let's dig into it

How to Adjust Dual Flush Toilet - Step by Step Guide

1.   Remove the Dual Flush Toilet Lid

In most of these types of toilets, unscrew the push button that is located on the top of its lid before you can lift off. Unscrew the button anticlockwise.

I didn’t work? The button doesn’t want to unscrew? Press on one of the flush buttons down to pry off the opposite button from underneath.

Now do the same process for the first flush button. This should be able to unscrew now.

2.   Adjust the Level

It’s pretty simple to adjust the water level in a dual flush toilet. An integrated float assembly is used in these toilets that helps raise and lower the water level to control the flow of water. The ring shaped device that fits around the fill valve in the left-hand side of the toilet is the float.

Depending on the valve, there are two ways available to adjust the level.

The first one is by a screw that sits on top of fill valve assembly. Clockwise tightening lowers the water and loosing it anticlockwise makes the float to rise higher as the tank fills.

The other one way to adjust the water level is to press together the two sides of the lock that attach the float valve to the fill valve assembly rail mounted on the side.

3.   Flush the Toilet

Press down on one button on top of the flush valve in the center of the toilet to flush the toilet. Water will refill after exiling the tank.

Now check the new level if it is still not at the accurate level, start next adjustments and check by flushing as necessary

4.   Finishing

Once you are satisfied with the new water level, it’s now time to replace the lid. The dual flush assembly should be screwed back and pressed the buttons into place if you’ve removed them.

Now you are done adjusting your dual flush toilet. Use the same process to other dual flush toilets if needed.
